"Max" pays tribute to that confidence in steel and timber. The handle is crafted from dark ebony timber and white pearl resin, mirroring the Magpie's iconic black-and-white plumage. The drop-point blade echoes the bird's sharp, precise beak — built to cut cleanly and hold that edge through repeated use.

What sets Max apart from the rest of the Aviary is the steel. CPM MagnaCut is one of the most advanced knife steels available anywhere in the world — engineered by Crucible Industries to deliver best-in-class corrosion resistance, toughness, and edge retention simultaneously. In most steels, these three properties trade off against each other. MagnaCut doesn't play by those rules. Hardened to 58HRC, Max will hold a working edge longer than knives costing twice as much.

The caged ceramic ball-bearing pivot makes deployment effortless — flip the top tab and the blade swings out with satisfying precision. The liner lock engages with a solid, reassuring click.
